At its July 2010 Annual Conference, the Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA) conferred the CFaR Research Award on Eva Klein and Harvey Kaiser for their research and publication—Strategic Capital Development: The New Model for Campus Investment.
Achievement Award, Association Of University Research Parks, 2009
 In October 2009, the Association of University Research Parks honored Ms. Klein with its Appreciation Award for her two decades of service in promoting the success of university-affiliated research/ technology parks, citing:
“Possibly no one has been more of a ’thought leader’ in envisioning how research parks, embedded in their university’s other missions, could serve as change agents in the Knowledge Economy. For the past 25 years, Ms. Klein has promoted the idea of putting the ‘university’ into ‘university research parks’—that is, consideration of the mission, programs, partnership connections, technology development, and business culture changes that really create the demand for the real estate. Ms. Klein was ahead of most of us in understanding our transformation from the Industrial Economy to the Knowledge Economy and the related huge changes required of our universities—to drop the ‘Ivory Tower’ culture in favor of proactive engagement with communities and regions in support of economic prosperity. As a result of her ‘voice,’ many universities and their public and private sector partners have better understood their vital roles in the rebirth of economic competitiveness….”
