Business Focus and Mission

Red GlobeEva Klein & Associates, Ltd. (EKA) is a consulting practice that supports higher education clients in design of strategic visions; business models/operational planning; and implementation of strategies. Today, carrying out EKA’s business mission means assisting institutions in their work to create the future of the 21st century institution—fully engaged in:

  • Enhancing educational opportunities and accomplishments for increasingly diverse learners
  • Creating new knowledge and, with partners, working to apply innovation to the advantage of communities the institution serves—locally, regionally, and globally
  • Improving value and productivity of critical resources—both people and physical assets.

EKA provides technical expertise, planning facilitation, and creative strategy formulation—all aimed at helping institutions advance their accomplishments, service to constituents, and competitiveness in the Global Knowledge Economy.

EKA's core business derives from Eva Klein’s professional career in higher education, melded with her two decades of professional activities in economic development

Sustainable Business Models for the 21st Century University

EKA also helps institutions reposition themselves as pivotal forces in their communities, regions, and states—to support competitiveness in the Global Knowledge Economy—while also sustaining scholarship and developing and applying new knowledge to address global and local problems. Although the professional services landscape has changed in recent years, no professional consulting firm in the US has focused—as EKA has for the last 25 years—on university roles in economic development and regional engagement and innovation strategies.

Via IDEA Partnerships, LLC, we also partner with universities on real estate development projects.

Business Model and Philosophy

EKA’s business model is to form multidisciplinary project teams with experts from an international network of individual associates and strategic alliance partner firms. Each EKA-led consulting team is formed uniquely to meet the skills/experience requirements of each project undertaken. Our teams often include both professional consultants and practitioners. With this business model, EKA performs at large-firm standards, while maintaining a small-business style of client relations. We draw on experience, but we treat each project as a new challenge for which uniquely formulated solutions are required. EKA is proud of relationships with clients who valued our services such that they sought our assistance more than once. Some of EKA’s work also comes via direct referrals from prior clients.
EKA is known for our abilities to facilitate planning / decision processes that achieve consensus which, in turn, leads to actionable results. We are strategic planners and strategic do-ers.
